       Macquarie Group Limited is a global financial services group headquartered in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was established on 10 December 1969, as the Hill Samuel Australia Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UK merchant bank Hill Samuel & Co Limited.

       In 1985, it obtained an Australian Banking license as Macquarie Bank Limited.

       In 2007, Macquarie Group Limited was established as a Non-Operating Holding Company.


       The company operates through the following segments: Macquarie Asset Management (MAM), Banking and Financial Services (BFS), Commodities and Global Markets, and Macquarie Capital.

    Macquarie Asset Management (MAM)

       The Commodities and Global Markets segment includes equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, commodities, and technology, media and telecoms.

    Macquarie Capital

       The Macquarie Capital segment provides a full spectrum of capital solutions, from debt, equity, and private capital raising and financing.


       With more than 15 000 employees, Macquarie Group Limited is considered one of the world’s largest infrastructure asset managers and one of Australia’s top-ranked mergers and acquisitions advisers. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the top 2000 largest public companies in the world.
