       T&D Holdings is a Japanese insurance holding company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Its history goes back to May 1893 when Taiyo Life was founded as Nagoya Life Insurance Co., Ltd.

       In July 1902, Daido Life Insurance Company was founded through the merger of Asahi Life, Gokoku Life, and Hokkai Life.

       In January 1999, Taiyo Life and Daido Life announced a broad business alliance.

       In June 1999, The group name, “T&D Life Group” was announced. The group name changed from”T&D Life Group” to “T&D Insurance Group.”(2019)

       In October 1999, T&D Taiyo Daido Asset Management Co., Ltd. was launched through a merger of domestic investment advisory companies.

       In October 2001, Taiyo Life and Daido Life jointly completed the acquisition of the former Tokyo Life Insurance Company, renamed T&D Financial Life Insurance Company.

       In 2001, T&D Information Systems, Ltd. was launched through a merger of the Group system divisions.

       In July 2002, T&D Asset Management Co., Ltd. was launched through a merger of T&D Taiyo Daido Asset Management Co., Ltd., and Daido Life Investment Trust Management Co., Ltd.

       In August 2002, T&D Taiyo Daido Lease Co., Ltd. was launched through a merger of Group leasing businesses.

       In April 2004, T&D Holdings, Inc. was established (Taiyo Life, Daido Life, and T&D Financial Life became wholly-owned subsidiaries of T&D Holdings.) T&D Customer Services Co., Ltd. was also launched through a merger of group administrative services.

       In January 2007, T&D Holdings made Japan Family Insurance Planning, Ltd. (renamed Pet & Family Small-amount Short-term Insurance Company) a subsidiary.

       In March 2007, T&D Holdings made T&D Asset Management Co., Ltd. a direct subsidiary.

       In April 2019, Pet & Family Small-amount Short-term Insurance Company converted to a nonlife insurance company, being renamed to Pet & Family Insurance Co., Ltd.

       In July 2019, T&D United Capital Co., Ltd. begins operations.


       The Group’s core business is life insurance, operating in this segment mainly through its three core life insurance companies (Taiyo Life, Daido Life, and T&D Financial Life). The Group also includes closed book business, asset management business, and pet insurance business, which have an affinity with the life insurance business.

    Taiyo Life

       Taiyo Life coverages deadh benefit and medical/nursing care products to households.

    Daido Life

       Daido Life provides term life insurance Disability benefit, and other insurance products to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

    T&D Financial Life

       T&D Financial Life coverages savings-type products (foreign-currency linked type, etc.) and protection-type products (income protection insurance, etc.) to the independent insurance agent market.

    T&D Asset Management

       T&D Asset Management engages in the investment trust management advisory & discretionary investment management.

    Pet&Family

       Pet&Family coverages the non-life insurance business.

    T&D United Capital

       T&D United Capital engages in the Investments, Management of portfolio companies, and other related operations.


       With more than 11 000 employees, T&D Holdings is considered one of the top 2000 largest public companies in the world, according to Forbes.
