       Formosa Petrochemical Co., Ltd. is an energy company headquartered in Mailiao Township, Yunlin County, Taiwan. It is mainly engaged in the production and sales of petroleum products and basic petrochemical raw materials.

    HISTORY


       Formosa Petrochemical was established in 1992 as a subsidiary of Formosa Plastics Group. It was jointly invested by Formosa Plastics, Nanya, Taihua, Fumao, Taishuo Heavy Industry, and other companies.

       In 1996, the company established Mailiao Auto Electric Co., Ltd. as a joint venture with Formosa Plastics, Nanya, and Taihua.

       In 2000, Formosa Petroleum was officially listed, supplying gasoline and diesel at gas stations.

       In 2003, Formosa Petrochemical was listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

       In 2004, the company established Good Star Co., Ltd. as a joint venture with Caltax, an American company.

       In 2009, Formosa Petrochemical Shipping Co., Ltd. was established.

       In March 2013, Formosa Kraton Chemical Co., Ltd. was established as a joint venture with Kraton Performance Polymers, Inc.

       In July 2013, the company jointly established Fusu Engineering Co., Ltd. with Taiwan Fukuo Company.

       In 2016, Formosa Idemitsu Specialty Chemicals Co., Ltd. was established as a joint venture with Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd.

    OPERATIONS


    • Refining Division – refining of crude oil, gasoline, diesel fuel and other oil products;
    • Olefin Division – production and sales of basic petrochemical raw materials, such as ethylene and propylene;
    • Utilities Division – production and sales of water, electricity, steam and other utility fluids;
    • Oil Division – domestic sales of oil products and oil product storage and transportation business;
    • Construction Division – engineering planning, design and construction.

       With more than 5,000 employees, Formosa Petrochemical Co., Ltd. is considered one of the largest oil refiners in Taiwan. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World.
