       JD.com, Inc. (formerly 360buy), or also known as Jingdong (pinyin: Jīngdōng), is a Chinese e-commerce company headquartered in Beijing, China. It was founded as Jingdong Century Trading Co., Ltd. by Liu Qiangdong on June 18, 1998.

       In 2004, the company entered the field of e-commerce, and JD.com Multimedia Network was officially launched. The company’s domain name being used was www.jdlaser.com.

       In 2007, it changed its domain name to 360buy.com, and the company name was changed to Jingdong Mall.

       In 2013, the domain was changed again to JD.com (京东).


       Over the years, the company has developed into a group company covering retail, digital technology, logistics, technical services, health, insurance, production and development, intelligent cloud and overseas businesses.


       With more than 178 000 employees, JD.com, Inc. is a Fortune Global 500 company, and it is considered one of the largest online and offline retail group in China. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the top 2000 largest public companies in the world.
