Keurig Green Mountain, Inc. was a beverage company, headquartered in Waterbury, Vermont, United States. The company produces a diverse range of bean and ground coffee selections and other specialty beverages, including tea, hot apple cider and hot cocoa also offered in K-Cup portion packs. It also sells beverage machines.
HISTORY
Keurig Green Mountain was originally founded by Bob Stiller in 1981 as a small café Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in Waitsfield, Vermont.
In 1933, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters was listed on the NASDAQ Stock Market.
In 2006, the company acquired Keurig, Inc., a manufacturer of single-cup brewing systems.
In 2011, Green Mountain Coffee and Starbucks announced an agreement whereby Starbucks would sell its coffee in single-serve pods for brewing with Green Mountain’s Keurig machines.
In 2014, The Coca-Cola Company purchased a stake in Green Mountain Coffe, and made an agreement to support the new cold beverage system developed by Keurig which allows customers to make Coca-Cola brand beverages at home.
In 2014, after Green Mountain Coffee Roasters changed its name to Keurig Green Mountain, Keurig ceased to be a separate business unit and a subsidiary of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters.
In 2016, Keurig Green Mountain was acquired by an investor group led by private-equity company JAB Holding Company.
In July 2018, Keurig Green Mountain acquired Dr Pepper Snapple Group and formed a new company named Keurig Dr Pepper.
With more than 25,000 employees, Keurig Green Mountain, Inc. was considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World, according to Forbes.
