M&G plc is a British savings and investment company headquartered in London, England, UK. It was established in 1931 when Municipal & General Securities Company Limited launched the first unit trust in the UK. The fund – M&G First British Fixed Trust – allowed people to pool their money together in order to invest in a fixed portfolio of shares in blue-chip British companies.
In March 1999, M&G Investments was acquired by Prudential plc.
In August 2017, Prudential plc announced that its Prudential UK & European business and M&G Investments would be merging to form M&GPrudential.
In October 2019, M&G demerged from Prudential PLC and listed on the London Stock Exchange under a new name – M&G plc.
The company operates through the following business segments: Asset Management and Life & Pensions.
